dertbag (Divine Energy Radiates Through Beauty And Genius) is an ever-evolving artwork by Philip Post. The dertbag atelier was established in 2013 and continues to operate as a public shop and community gathering space with global reach.

The bulk of our clothing is produced by a small, family-owned business a few blocks from the atelier in Bridgeport, Connecticut. These items are lovingly made-to-order, allowing us to prevent wasteful overproduction while overseeing the quality of each garment and nurturing a real-life relationship with the people making our clothing.

Ready-made clothing items are all sewn in California and printed in upstate New York by the same printer dertbag has worked with for the past 14 years. We work with small factories in Queens for headwear, Southern California for socks, and Missouri for domestic fabrics. 

Philip creates “prototypes” one-of-one dertbag pieces by painting and screen-printing on clothing items from his thrifted archive. He designs womenswear under the GERL brand, kidswear under the BEBY brand, and homeware under the CREB brand.

Everything from the direction, design, product photography, order fulfillment, and running of the atelier is done by Philip Post and his tight knit group of creatives. Each lookbook is documented by Philip Post with models who are close friends and supporters of the brand.
